Jiankou Great Wall is widely regarded as the wildest, steepest, and most spectacular section of the Great Wall near Beijing. Built along sharp mountain ridges, it has not been fully restored, making it a favorite destination for experienced hikers, photographers, and adventure travelers.

History
Jiankou was constructed during the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644) using local dolomite stone. Its name, meaning “Arrow Nock,” comes from the mountain’s shape, which resembles the notch at the end of an arrow. Because of its strategic ridge-top location, it was an important defensive section protecting the approaches to Beijing.
